The StormTech Sustainable Urban Drainage System

Highlights of Features and Benefits for the StormTech System

StormTech chamber models from MC-7200 to SC-160LP

The StormTech System is a versatile sustainable urban drainage, attenuation and water quality management solution suitable for commercial, municipal, residential, industrial and infrastructure applications. With eight different chamber sizes, designers and contractors can select the most appropriate configuration for a wide range of site conditions. Its unique continuous elliptical arch design and superior structural strength make it particularly suitable for high-impact locations, while requiring only 450mm to 600mm minimum cover to the base of hardstanding pavement for HGV loading. The lightweight chambers also allow for faster, easier installation compared with more cumbersome concrete, pipe or crate-based structures.

Designed for long-term performance, the system has a 100-year serviceable lifespan and incorporates the third-party tested Isolator Row to simplify inspection and maintenance. Chambers can be surrounded with either quarried or recycled aggregate, depending on quality and availability, with the potential to identify BREEAM credits where recycled aggregates are sourced on or off site. Manufactured from virgin polypropylene, the chambers can be fully or partially recycled at the end of their life. The system also delivers low embodied carbon per m³ of attenuated surface water compared with alternative systems, while its combined approach to attenuation and water quality management can provide significant savings in both capital and operational costs.

Advanced Industry Certification and Compliance

The StormTech System for below ground Sustainable Urban Drainage is based on arch-shaped, corrugated thermoplastic chambers. A rigorous structural testing and design program ensures full compliance with national and international standards.

StormTech System

    CE Mark

The StormTech System is the only proprietary Sustainable Urban Drainage Attenuation and Storm Water Treatment system in the UK that has been evaluated and can bear the CE mark.

Storm Water Pollutant Control and Treatment for Sustainable Urban Drainage

Cranbrook Technical Group provides a wide range of Stormwater Pollutant Management and Treatment strategies.

Collaborating with leading industry partners and manufacturers, Cranbrook Technical Group aims to provide solutions for regulators, engineers, specifiers, developers and contractors to adhere to the principals of Sustainable Urban Drainage by attenuating the rate and quantity of surface runoff from developments and improving water quality.

The StormTech System is the first combined Sustainable Urban Drainage Attenuation and Water Quality Management System, creating significant savings on capital and operational costs.

The StormTech system has been subjected to a wide range of storm water pollution data collection studies, storm water data comparisons and independently verified studies to ascertain the system’s pollution mitigation indices.

The StormTech System’s storm water pollutant mitigation results can be applied to The CIRIA SuDs Manual (C753) Simple Index Approach to Proprietary/Manufactured Stormwater Treatment Devices.

    Storm Water Containment

If a proposed development is to include areas designated for the storage of potentially hazardous substances, the development may fall under the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) regulations. COMAH regulations are to prevent and mitigate potential effects from major accidents involving dangerous substances on the environment.

In accordance with CIRIA C736 ‘Containment systems for the prevention of pollution’, Cranbrook Technical Group works with leading industry partners and manufacturers to help with the prevention of hazardous drainage runoff, in particular preventing firefighting water from leaving the development.
